A man believed to be linked to two sex assaults in Orange County, including an attack at a Santa Ana mall, was taken into custody Friday.
The most recent assault happened at about 6:30 a.m. near North Brookhurst St. and West La Palma Ave., according to authorities.
The woman was leaving a nearby church when she was attacked from behind and forced into her car, where she was sexually assaulted, investigators said.
At some point, the woman was able to escape and run to a nearby gas station where she called police.
The attacker and the vehicle were gone when Anaheim police arrived at the scene.
The victim’s car was later located with four people inside, Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn said.
Three of the people were arrested when the vehicle crashed after a short pursuit, Dunn said.
A fourth person, identified by police as 18-year-old Raymond Boykin, fled the scene and was taken into custody a short time later.
Boykin was already being sought by Santa Ana police in connection to the sex assault of a woman at the Westfield MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana on Wednesday, Santa Ana Interim Police Chief Carlos Rojas said at a news conference on Friday.
