Two lottery tickets–one from California and one from Georgia– matched all six numbers in the $636 million Mega Millions, lottery officials said Wednesday.
The winning numbers were 8, 20, 14, 17, 39, with a Mega Ball of 7
In California, the winning ticket was purchased in San Jose at Jennifer’s Gift Shop, state lottery officials said Tuesday night.
The winning ticket in Georgia was purchased in Atlanta, according to CNN.
Based on the $636 million figure, the winners would receive one lump sum of $170 million or $318 million each over time, according to lottery officials.
However, they said that the winning total could potentially rise to $645 million due to higher lottery ticket sales, the Associated Press reported.
A final figure is expected to be announced by Wednesday afternoon.
Tuesday’s lottery jackpot was the second-biggest ever in the country, just shy of the record set in March 2012 of $656 million.
Mega Millions tickets are sold in 43 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
