Norwalk Sheriff’s Station deputies were called to the home when a shooting was reported in the 9600 block of Du Page Avenue (map) at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday night.

Deputies found Stephen Turner, Jr., 26, with a gunshot wound to his torso when they arrived at the scene.

Turner, who was allegedly fighting with his girlfriend, was holding a knife and threatened to kill her, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

Turner’s father grabbed a gun and tried to get his son to stop fighting with his girlfriend. That’s when Turner, still holding the knife, allegedly lunged at his father, according to the release.

In an apparent act of self-defense, the father fired his gun, striking Turner in the torso, the sheriff’s department stated.

Turner was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition. He was expected to face an Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge.

The father was not arrested.
