A Southern California man won the lottery twice by playing the same exact set of numbers, a press release from the California Lottery said Tuesday.
Racy Pel purchased one ticket worth $50 million, and another worth more than $32,000 on Dec. 18, state lottery officials said.
He claimed his prize on Christmas Eve.
The winning tickets were purchased at the Finish Line Food Store in Los Alamitos, according to lottery officials.
Pel had been playing SuperLotto Plus with the same numbers for more than six years, the release said.
“I purchase the tickets because the money goes back to the schools” the father of three public school children said, according to the state lottery.
Pel said he planned to buy a new car with his winnings since the one he has now has a tendency to break down on the way to work.
