Criminal gang homicide detectives were responding to the scene at 105th Street and Wilmington Avenue (map) midday on Christmas, according to Sgt. Lin with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Division.

The adult son, who was taken into custody, allegedly stabbed his father in the back in a family dispute that also left the mother injured, Lin said.

The father was taken to a local hospital where he died; the mother was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Lin said.

The suspect’s name was not released, nor were the victims’ names.

The location is about two blocks from the famed Watts Towers. Traffic was affected in the area of 105th Street and Manchester Avenue, said Lin, who would not give his first name.
