Driver in Custody After Police Pursuit Ends in Riverside

A police pursuit ended in Riverside Monday evening when authorities took a driver into custody after he exited his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

The chase began in Highland about 8:17 p.m. after a report of an armed robbery at a phone business, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities from multiple law enforcement agencies pursued a white Lexus sedan as it traveled a roundabout route from Highland to Riverside, transitioning onto five freeways before entering a residential neighborhood.

Sky5 video showed the driver of the Lexus attempting to escape on foot after the car swerved and came to a stop. He jumped over a fence and ran onto a property, where he was quickly apprehended by officers.
