The child – who was described as being a 1- to 2-year-old girl – was found in a stroller by two good Samaritans at about 2:30 a.m., just east of Washington Boulevard and Western Avenue (map), according to Sgt. Ed Clark of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Olympic Division.

As officers arrived, the mother – who was only identified as a woman in her 20s – returned to the scene, Clark said.

Paramedics evaluated the toddler and transported her to an area hospital, but she was expected to be OK, authorities said.

It was not immediately known how long the child was left alone, or where exactly the mother was, Clark said, but it was just over 50 degrees at the time the toddler was found.
