A caller reported the shooting just after 6:30 a.m. Friday in the 37700 block of Christensen Court (map), according to the release from sheriff’s Lieutenant Darren Harris.

The caller told authorities that a woman had been shot, according to the release. The injured woman, the suspected shooter and two teenagers were all believed to be inside the home at the time.

Once Palmdale sheriff’s deputies arrived, the two teens ran out of the home. Deputies then approached the house, where they located the wounded woman and carried her outside, Harris said.

The suspected gunman then barricaded himself inside the residence. Deputies were able to enter the home nine hours later, where authorities said they discovered the man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

His identity has not been released.

The woman was transported to a local hospital and treated for a gunshot wound. She was listed in serious condition, but was expected to survive, authorities said.
