Led by GA Global Partners, the auction features memorabilia, antiques, restaurant and kitchen equipment, track maintenance equipment, signage, building maintenance tools and more from the 75-year history of the Inglewood race track.
Hollywood Park opened June 10, 1938, with such film stars as Al Jolson, Milton Berle, Bob Hope, Joan Crawford and Barbara Stanwyck helping kick off the racing season. The track chairman was Jack Warner of Warner Bros. Studios. Many of the 600 original shareholders included stars, directors, and producers from Hollywood.
Horse racing royalty also made Hollywood Park a regular stop. Seabiscuit won the 1938 Hollywood Park Gold Cup, along with the Triple Crown Winners Citation, Seattle Slew and Affirmed. In addition, Swaps, Zenyatta and many more thoroughbreds ran here.
Hollywood Park closed its doors Sunday, December 22nd, 2013. The historic structures and vistas of the Inglewood track will be demolished and transformed into a 238-acre mixed use development with homes, parks, and retail. The casino next to the track will continue to exist in this new development.
