Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Santa Ana

Homicide detectives were investigating a fatal shooting in Santa Ana on Friday, according to police.

Shortly after 1 a.m., officers responded to reports that a person was lying on the ground on the 1400 block of South Standard Avenue  (map), Santa Ana police officials said in a news release.

When officers arrived, they found that victim — described only as an adult male — had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated.

The incident may have been gang related, according to Santa Ana police Sgt. Richard Weber.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity yet.
