lac-sheriffThe incident started after deputies went to the 4800 block of Grape Street (map) around 6 a.m. to serve a search warrant, sheriff’s Sgt. Pablo Partida said.

The search warrant led them to the 8400 block of Olympic Boulevard (map), where the unidentified man was holed up, Partida said.

A SWAT team responded to the scene.

The unidentified man, who had possibly been armed with a firearm, was in custody, authorities on scene said at about 12:30 p.m.

A special-weapons team “deployed a diversionary device” outside the home, and negotiators convinced the man to surrender, according to an updated news release from the Sheriff’s Department. The man was taken into custody peacefully.

No one else was inside the home and no one was injured, officials said.

Partida said the search warrant was related to a narcotics investigation, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported on its website.
