An atmospheric river, also known as the pineapple express is forecast to impact Northern California from Friday through the weekend. Hazardous travel is expected for the Sierra roadways above 4000-5000ft between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning; travel across Sierra highways is greatly discouraged during this time frame. Snow levels will rise to around 7000 feet by Saturday afternoon. With periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, urban and small stream flooding will be possible.
While you may think this won’t impact Southern California, the good news is, the snow pack will build and eventually, we will benefit from that precipitation. Click on the image to enlarge.
