The city of Garden celebrates Black History Month by hosting Kansas City’s Negro League’s Baseball Museum’s traveling exhibit “Times, Teams, & Talents.”

The museum and its traveling exhibits work to strengthen and expand the history of African American baseball.

Take a look at the talent of the African Children’s Choir composed of African children, aged 7 to 10 years old. Many have lost one or both parents due to war, famine and disease. Despite the tragedy that has marred their young lives, the children are radiant with hope and musically gifted.

The choir raises awareness of the need of destitute and orphaned children in Africa and raises funds for continued development and support of the African Children’s Choir Programs.

The Laguna Art Museum presents its annual art auction fundraiser. More than one-hundred artists are featured including historically-significant California artists George Hurrell – famous for his black and white images of Hollywood’s icons — and more!

Art donated by artists, galleries, and private collectors are sold in a silent and live auction, with proceeds benefiting the museum, a non-profit organization.

The work of artist Timothy Washington is on view at the Craft and Folk Art Museum. Washington is famous for his assemblages incorporating drawing, painting, and especially sculpture. Known especially for semi-abstract depictions of human figures, Washington believes combining various media produces greater visual impact.

Let the drag racing begin!

The 54th Annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals is ripping and running through the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona.

NHRA offers more than 20 categories of competition, including Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycles at the Professional level. There are more than 40,000 licensed NHRA drivers who compete at 130 NHRA member tracks around the country. One of the supers stars burning up the track this season is Nitro Funny Car competitor Alexis DeJoria – daughter of John Paul DeJoria – owner of Patron Tequila and John Paul Mitchell Systems.

She learned her craft taking lessons with champions like Jack Beckman at the Frank Hawley Drag Racing School. Hmmm! Let me give it a try!
