Rice, 27, was suspected of smashing the windows of an LAPD patrol car near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue on Tuesday.

KTLA’s Victor Vargas, who was in the area working on an unrelated story, shot video of the incident.

The police vehicle was parked on Hollywood Boulevard, right in front of the Hollywood & Highland shopping center and across from the El Capitan Theatre.

Video showed a costumed Darth Vader looking on as the man identified by authorities as Rice began smashing in the patrol’s cars windows. At one point, he removed a laptop from the vehicle, and then walked to a nearby kiosk, where he opened the computer and began to use it, video showed.

Within minutes, police officers arrived and pulled the man down onto the Walk of Fame.

Rice was arrested and booked at LAPD’s Hollywood Station, county inmate records showed. He was being held on $20,000 bail.

KTLA’s Melissa Pamer and Tracy Bloom contributed to this report.
