Fugitive Sex Offender From Montana Arrested in Oregon: FBI
Kevin Anthony Briggs, a violent felon and registered sex offender that escaped from authorities in Montana, was arrested Friday night in Portland, Ore.
Briggs was wanted in Montana for aggravated assault, attempted sexual intercourse without consent and assault on a police officer, according to a news release from the FBI.
He was also being sought on federal charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Authorities believed Briggs purchased a one-way bus ticket in Missoula, Mont. on Feb. 1 bound for Spokane, Wash.
From there investigators tracked him to Northern California and believed he may have been headed south to Mexico, the release stated.
But on Friday evening Briggs was spotted riding in a van in Portland by members of the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force.
He was arrested without incident.
Briggs has used many aliases including: Aimee MacIntire, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Briggs, Kevin A. Briggs, Timothy McCoy, James Meismer and James Zenon Meismer.
He has a violent criminal history and was considered “armed, dangerous or possibly suicidal,” the release stated.
Briggs was described as a white man, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 120 to 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.
He has a sunburst tattoo around his right nipple, a tattoo in his armpit and a tattoo on his lower lip.
He has a double “snake bite” piercing on his bottom lip. He also has a belly button piercing and pierced ears.
Briggs was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a dark-colored hooded jacket or parka, black shoes and a dark baseball cap, the release stated.
Anyone with information about Briggs was urged to contact law enforcement immediately.
