Sidnicka Wilson, 32, was being sought by police after her two children were found wandering South Los Angeles streets. Her DMV photo was released by LAPD.

Sidnicka Wilson, 32, was being sought after police received several calls about the abandoned children seen near West Manchester Boulevard and Stanford Avenue at about 9 a.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The two boys were identified Tuesday as George Gray, 3, and Edward Gray, 2.

They had come to the liquor store twice on Feb. 24 — a week before they were found — looking for food, according to police. The boys were returned home but police were not called.

Luis Rodriguez was working on his truck, which broke down in the neighborhood Monday morning, when he saw the children walking in the street and grabbed them before they walked into the path of cars.

“They were just two kids alone. Nobody around to take care of them,” Rodriguez said.

Another witness followed 3-year-old George, who ran back to a nearby unlocked house that was found to be in unsuitable condition, according to police. No adults were found at the home.

“They found it to be in deplorable conditions that children should not be living in,” LAPD Capt. Lillian Carranza said. “Sadly enough, the way it was described was that the 3-year-old knew to go to the store, get a loaf of bread, bring it back home and make a sandwich for himself and his sibling.”

The boys were turned over to the county Department of Children and Family Services.

Police have searched hospitals and jails and talked to family members in the search for the mother. Foul play was not suspected, and no drugs were found at the home.

Police asked for the public’s help finding Wilson, who could face charges of child endangering. Anyone with information had been urged to contact the 77th Street Community Police Station at 213-485-4164, or call the LAPD’s 24-hour anonymous tip line at 877-527-3247 (LAPD-247).

Wilson was described as a black woman who is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 175 pounds in weight. Her address was given in the 600 block of East 85th Street, around the corner from the liquor store where the boys were first reported seen.
