This is a sure sign of spring. The Flower Fields of Carlsbad opens this weekend. Visitors can appreciate Mother Nature’s more than 50 acres of flowers from ranunculus, roses, orchids, and more.

Enjoy the color and pageantry of the California State University, Long Beach annual Pow Wow, an American Indian social celebration, at the campus’ central quad Saturday and Sunday.

Described by event organizers as the largest spring event of its kind in Southern California, the Pow Wow focuses on displaying the university’s strong American Indian presence.

Admission and parking are free. It’s recommended spectators to bring folding chairs.

The 2014 ASICS LA Marathon is Sunday. Runners can pick up their race day materials and non-runners can have fun, learn a few things about exercise and nutrition, and do a little shopping at the NutriBullet Health & Fitness Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Learn what it’s like to be an elite runner on the ASICS TREADMILL CHALLENGE designed to run at the speed of the course record pace 2:06:35. Fans can see how long they can hold that pace until their legs or lungs give out. Elite marathoners hold the 12-mile per hour pace for over two hours.
