Dozens of Dominguez High School teachers stayed home on Tuesday, creating a lot of confusion at the school’s campus in Compton.

Students, parents and administrators had no inkling beforehand that 40 of about 90 teachers at the high school had planned to stay home.

The district was forced to send substitutes teachers from other campuses to fill the gaps.

The teachers were allegedly upset about not being given a raise in several years. They claimed the Compton Unified School District superintendent received a $12,000 raise after only one year on the job.
