Two off-road motorists made the discovery on Sunday at about 3:18 p.m. and contacted deputies from the Victor Valley station, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim was identified as 39-year-old Matthew Ray Arwood of National City.

Investigators believe he was shot at another location and brought to the area where his body was found.

An autopsy had not been completed but it appeared the body had been at the location for two to four days, according to Jodi Miller, sheriff spokesperson.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Detective Gary Hart or Sgt. John Gaffney at 909-387-3589.
