The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on Rose Drive north of East Orangethorpe Avenue (map), according to the Placentia Police Department.

A palm tree that the car collided with kept the vehicle from crashing into the home, authorities said.

The driver, identified only as a 34-year-old male, sustained minor injuries in the collision, according to Placentia police Sgt. Scott Audiss.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash was under investigation, Audiss said.
