Singer Chris Brown was arrested in Malibu Friday afternoon in connection with an alleged probation violation, authorities said.
Brown was “cooperative” when he was taken into custody at about 2 p.m., according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
He was being held without bail at a jail in downtown Los Angeles in connection with an arrest warrant issued for an alleged probation violation related to his conviction for assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats crimes in a 2009 incident, the Sheriff’s Department stated.
The 2009 crimes involved an attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
It was not immediately known how Brown had allegedly violated his probation.
Brown had been ordered to a 90-day residential anger-management program and community service by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge in November.
