4 LAPD Officers Among 7 Injured in Glassell Park Crash
Seven people were injured, including four seriously, in a car crash in Glassell Park Monday morning. Four LAPD officers were among those hurt.
The crash happened in the intersection of North Fletcher Drive and North San Fernando Road (map) at about 8:47 a.m., according to Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Four officers were transported to the hospital in unknown condition, Herrera said. Three occupants of an SUV were also transported, she said.
Four of those injured were in serious condition and three were in fair condition, according to Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department, which responded to the scene. Initially, an alert from Main stated that eight people were injured.
It was unclear which patients were the officers and which were the occupants of another vehicle.
Aerial video from Sky5 showed damage to a black SUV and an unmarked black Ford sedan that apparently collided in the intersection. Multiple ambulances were on scene.
The LAPD’s Northeast Station is about one-half mile away from the collision scene.
It was unclear what caused the collision, which occurred 10 days after LAPD Officer Nicholas Lee was killed in a crash involving his patrol car and a big-rig in Beverly Hills. Another officer was left injured in that March 7 crash.
