Valencia Private School Teacher Arrested for Alleged Molestation

A teacher at a Valencia school was arrested Wednesday for allegedly molesting a student, according to a news release.

Carl Astrera, a Panorama City resident, who taught at Legacy Academy School, allegedly engaged in the inappropriate conduct towards the child during the last year and half, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputies Juanita Navarro-Suarez and Kim Manatt stated in the news release.

An investigation began Feb. 28 and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of annoying/molesting on Tuesday against Astrera, 35.

He was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail, the release stated.

Legacy Academy School was a Christian private school that taught kindergarten through eighth grade and was located in the 27600 Block of Dickason Drive, according to the school’s website.

Astrera had been employed at the school for several years and detectives said there may be additional victims, the release stated.
