Dog handler Marwick Kane and LAX Airport Information Specialist Monique Bell joined us live with Jackie, a therapy dog, to give us a closer look at LAX’s pet therapy program.
Jackie is a 9-year-old Doberman. He was 9 months old when he was adopted from the Doberman rescue. Jackie had been neglected, starved and denied human contact and it was apparent he was kept in a small space.
For the past year, he has worked with children who are dealing with issues such as being bullied, a fear of dogs after being attacked, and abandonment issues.
Jackie is also one of 35 pooches in the PUP (Pets Unstressing Passengers) program at Los Angeles International Airport. Jackie works the international terminal, seeing passengers off on flights going all over the world. April 15 marks the one-year anniversary of the PUP program.
Jackie has also been nominated for the 2014 American Humane Association’s Hero Dog Awards. Vote for Jackie by clicking here.
