Walter Compton was taken into custody on Tuesday by deputies serving a search warrant at his home in Palmdale, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.

The warrant stemmed from a bank robbery on March 12 at the Union Bank branch on West Lancaster Boulevard.

The robber, who was described as a male black, approximately 50 to 60 years old, had walked into the Union Bank and demanded money from a teller, the release stated.

After the teller turned over the money, the man exited the bank.

During the search of Compton’s home, detectives said they recovered evidence related to the crime, the release stated.

Compton was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday at the Antelope Valley Courthouse.
