Man on Motor Scooter Dies Following Crash Involving Santa Monica Police Vehicle

A 23-year-old man died Saturday morning after the motor scooter he was driving collided with a Santa Monica police vehicle, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and 4th Street in Santa Monica, according to Officer Karina Munoz of the CHP’s West Los Angeles office. At the time of the incident, the motor scooter was traveling eastbound on Pico and the patrol vehicle was headed northbound on 4th.

The man on the motor scooter sustained fatal injuries, Munoz said.

The CHP’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team was working to determine the cause of the collision and the speed of the vehicles, according to authorities.
