The shooting occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. in the 11600 block of Kittridge Street (map), according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The unidentified victim, who was in his late 50s or early 60s, was shot once in the chest, Sgt. Mike Cammert of the LAPD’s North Hollywood Division said.

The lone shooter fled the scene on foot, according to Cammert.

Police have not yet released a description of the gunman.

Investigators were looking into whether the incident was related to a disturbance call that came in about two hours before the shooting, Cammert said.

No other information was immediately available.
