It happened around 2:50p.m. on Tuesday as the girl from Culver City Middle School was walking in the area of Farragut Drive and Overland Avenue, according to a news release from the Culver City Police Department.

According to the release, a man driving a green Ford Taurus pulled up to the girl, rolled down his window and asked her what her name was.

He then leaned over, opened the passenger side door, and told her to get into the vehicle, the release stated.

Instead, the girl ran to the nearby Culver City Teen Center where someone called police.

“She did a great job,” said Culver City police Lt. Emery Eccles.

“Things like this usually go much worse if kids get into a car with a stranger,” Eccles said.

The driver was described as a white or Hispanic adult male, possibly in his 30s, with a goatee.

Anyone with information was urged to Lt. Emery Eccles at 310-253-6258.
