Man, 78, Shot and Killed in Oxnard; Gunman Sought

An investigation was underway after a 78-year-old man was found shot to death in a parked vehicle in Oxnard Sunday, police said.

Officers discovered the man’s body in the 5300 block of Cypress Road (map) shortly after 1:00 p.m., according to an Oxnard Police Department news release.

The victim had been shot once and died of his injuries, the release stated.

The man’s identity is being held pending notification of his family, according to the release, which added that he was a resident of Oxnard.

This was the sixth homicide in Oxnard this year, police said.

No arrests have been made, and there was no description of the possible shooter available.
