Pedestrian Dies While Crossing Freeway in South Los Angeles

A pedestrian died after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a freeway in South Los Angeles on Sunday, according to California Highway Patrol.

A man was hit by a Toyota van while crossing the southbound 110 Freeway north of West Century Boulevard around 4:30 a.m., CHP Officer Christian Cracraft said.

The man appeared to be alone and no abandoned vehicles were found in the immediate area, Cracraft said.

The 36-year-old driver was not suspected of driving under the influence and was not taken into custody, he said.

No further information about the pedestrian was available at the time.

A SigAlert was issued for the area and cleared by 8 a.m.
