A ridge of high pressure building into the Great Basin will bring northeast winds tonight through Thursday, with the peak winds expected Wednesday morning. Damaging gusts up to 70 mph are expected across the mountain ridges of the Inland Empire. The ridge aloft combined with offshore flow will also bring significant warming starting Tuesday. Highs are expected to peak on Thursday with coastal areas in the 80s to 90s and valleys in the 90s to near 100 degrees. Humidities will fall through the period, with widespread single-digit readings possible on Wednesday and Thursday. Fuel moisture values will also decrease. Fire weather conditions could reach critical thresholds by late Tuesday night and continue through Thursday evening.
