Arrest Made in Slaying of ATC Rider in Desert Near Lancaster

A 38-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of man allegedly gunned down while riding his all-terrain cycle in the desert near Lancaster.

Stephen Finson was found shot to death in the 13300 block of East Avenue H in February.

On Wednesday, investigators served search warrant at two locations resulting in the arrest of Arturo Lopez, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation began as a missing person’s case on Monday, February 24 when family members reported that Finson had not returned from an outing on his all-terrain cycle the day before.

The 47-year-old was last seen by family members on Sunday afternoon.

During the search, the Lancaster man was found laying on the ground near his ATC in the 13300 block of East Avenue H, the release stated.

He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated.

He was found by deputies later that day laying on the ground near his ATC.

It was determined he had suffered a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated.

Lopez was booked on suspicion of murder at the Lancaster station where he was being held without bail.

He was scheduled to appear in Court on Friday.
