Residents in areas across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties were affected by outages, according to power utilities.

Crews were working to restore electricity to 2,300 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in the afternoon, with most of those affected in Reseda and Chatsworth, DWP stated on Twitter.

By 9:30 p.m. the number of customers without power had been reduced to 1,500, the agency tweeted.

As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, there were 18,628 Southern California Edison power customers without power in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Riverside County was hit hardest, with nearly 11,000 customers without power due to wind, Edison said in a news release.

Agencies warned people to stay away and call 911 if they see a downed power line or dangling wire.
