Stolen Vehicle Suspect Taken Into Custody in Larchmont: LAPD

A man suspected of stealing a vehicle was taken into custody following search a search in the Larchmont-area of Los Angeles on Friday, authorities said.

Officers had set up a perimeter and entered what appeared to be an apartment building in the vicinity of Beverly Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue (map) shortly after 6 a.m., aerial video showed.

Some roads were closed in the area as police tried to locate the person, who was running between apartments in the area, according to Sgt. Melvin Gamble with the Los Angeles Police Department.

A number of the officers could be seen outside a building carrying what appeared to be firearms, according to the video.

About a block away, a silver SUV vehicle crashed into a parked green Volkswagen Bug, but it was not immediately clear if the crash was related to the incident.

No evacuations were ordered while police conducted the search, Gamble said.

The man was eventually caught in the perimeter, according to LAPD Sgt. Michael Mabie.  it was unclear whether the man was in a building or an alley at the time he was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.
