A 20-year-old woman was killed and four high school students were injured Monday in a violent solo-car crash in Corona that reduced a Ford Mustang to a pile of debris.
The Mustang veered off the road about 6:06 p.m. on Via Pacifica (map), hit a tree and disintegrated on impact, according to officers at the scene.
The driver, described only as a 20-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other passengers in the car were injured, one of them critically, police said.
The injured were all under the age of 18 and were students at a local high school, police said.
Video of the scene showed a number of teenagers gathered near the crash site who were visibly upset.
Speed was being investigated as a possible factor in the crash.
