A connector ramp on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach was scheduled to be closed for 2 1/2 years beginning Saturday in an effort to demolish it and replace the ramp with a new one.
The ramp connects the freeway to westbound Ocean Boulevard and its closure is part of the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project.
The project planned to eventually demolish an eastbound connector, according to a multiagency website about the project.
Detour signs would be posted for motorists and detours were posted on the website.
