The first gunshot victim was discovered at 11:15 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Highland Avenue and Sierra Way (map) by an officer on patrol, according to Sgt. Gary Robertson with the San Bernardino Police Department.

The victim, who had been shot in the chest, later died at a hospital, Robertson said.

About 15 minutes later, police received a report of a shooting at 13th Street and Wall Avenue (map), according to Robertson.

A man was talking to his girlfriend outside when a gunman opened fire, shooting him once in the chest, Robertson said. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he died an hour later.

No further information was available about either of the incidents.

Police did not believe the shootings were related.
