A report of gunfire near an apartment building in Reseda drew a large police response on Wednesday.
About a dozen police cars were stopped in the street near the incident in the 18900 block of Sherman Way (map) at about 12:45 p.m., aerial video from Sky5 showed.
Authorities were called to the scene because of a shots fired report, Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed.
Several people were taken out of an upstairs apartment by authorities, video showed.
One officer appeared to be pointing a gun towards a small group of people standing in a courtyard.
Sherman Way was closed between Wilbur Avenue and Reseda Boulevard because of police activity. People were asked to avoid the area, the Los Angeles Police Department announced through Twitter.
A man who had barricaded himself inside the building was taken into custody just before 5 p.m., according to LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera.
No shooting victims were located.
