This is a Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County tradition. This is the 28th annual Bug Fair. This year’s event is officially the year of the ANT! Learn there are more than 15,000 known ant species. Learn some ants can lift and carry up to 100 times their own weight. We can even learn to cook with bugs from famous bug chef David George Gordon. Ohhh! Is he making tempura battered tarantula? Ohhh! That’s my favorite! Yum!

And, you’re visiting the Bug Fair, see more than 30 native North American butterfly species and an array of plants that butterflies love at the Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
The museum is looking for volunteers to help with their work to stop the decline of the Monarch Butterfly by monitoring the Monarch Waystation at the Pavilion. This is where the California Native Milkwood has been planted. It’s a Monarch Butterfly favorite, which will help the butterfly survival predators and urban habitat destruction.

We’re invited to spend some time with the Belmont Shore Model Railroad Club. We can see the hard work and detail the club puts in its representation of 1950s Southern California railroading from Los Angeles to the Central Valley. The model railroad occupies approximately 2500 square feet and operates on both Direct Current and Digital Command Control.
40th Anniversary Beverly Hills artSHOW

The Beverly Hills artSHOW is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Traditionally, a 40th anniversary is represented by a ruby gemstone, so the event will feature a “ruby” theme. Professional jewelry artists, glass artists, and painters who regularly work with this stone or color have produced lots of art having a dark rosy theme.
More than 200 nationally selected artists have items on display and for sale along four blocks of Beverly Gardens, plus a wine garden, a beer garden, food trucks, and family art projects are available.
City of Torrance 55th Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration & Parade
This is Armed Forces Day and the city of Torrance is hosting the largest Armed Forces Day Parade and Celebration in the USA! Each year, the city honors a different branch of the military. This year the event salutes United States Navy. The event also features military vehicles including: Humvees, armored personnel carriers, support vehicles and tanks.
