Firefighters extracted a man from an overturned car Friday morning after a police chase came to an end in Boyle Heights, authorities said.

Police received a call of a stolen vehicle at 4:15 a.m., according to Lt. Carlos Solano of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Division.

A vehicle pursuit ensued, and ended when the car exited the southbound 5 Freeway at North Mission Road (map) and flipped over, Solano said. The driver, who was the only occupant of the car, was trapped inside.

Los Angeles City Firefighters responded to the scene and removed the man from the vehicle. He was then placed into an ambulance and transported to Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center in stable condition, authorities said.
