   The LARGEST international salsa celebration is in Los Angeles this weekend! The 16th Annual International Los Angeles Salsa Congress brings Latin Jazz and Salsa stars to the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles and for the first time downtown L.A.’s new Grand Park.

See more than 30 native North American butterfly species and an array of plants that butterflies love at the Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

   The museum is looking for volunteers to help with their work to stop the decline of the Monarch Butterfly by monitoring the Monarch Waystation at the Pavilion. This is where the California Native Milkweed has been planted. It’s a Monarch Butterfly favorite, which will help the butterfly survival predators and urban habitat destruction.

   And, this Memorial Day weekend, spcaLA and the Animals for Armed Forces® Foundation are providing free pet adoptions for members of the military and their immediate families this weekend. Service men and women can visit any spcaLA Pet Adoption Center to participate. Active duty, Reserve, and veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard and/or immediate family members qualify for the adoption must bring a photo ID and military ID, DD-214 a Driver License, or a NGB Form 22. Potential adopters must meet spcaLA pet adoption requirements.  Information on adoption is available at spcaLA.com.  The discount applies to the first 50 animals adopted by qualified applicants, limit two animals per household. Benefit Concert for Homeless Veterans @6pm

    And, this Memorial Day weekend, there is a benefit concert homeless veterans courtesy the Costanoan Rumsen Carmel Native American Tribe. Los Angeles is the homeless veterans capital of the country. The Housing Department reports more than six-thousand homeless vets living in LA and more than 60-thousand nationwide. Official say the count is incomplete because many of the vets sleeping under bridges, in alleys or in abandoned buildings have not been counted.
