Officers responded to a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. reporting unknown trouble at a home in the 400 block of Doheny Road in Trousdale Estates, according to Lt. Renato Moreno of the Beverly Hills Police Department.

At the home, officers found an elderly woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, Moreno said.

She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. Her husband was also transported for observation.

The alleged robbers were described as three men wearing ski masks and jumpsuits.

The men knocked on the front door of the home and forced their way in when the residents responded, according to Lt. Lincoln Hoshino.

The men tied up both victims and robbed the home, Hoshino said.

It was not clear why the woman was shot.

The robbers left through the front door and drove away in an unknown vehicle, according to Hoshino.

A search for the men was being conducted with canines on the ground and by a police helicopter overhead.

Residents were being asked to remain indoors.
