Temple City H.S. Softball Coach Arrested for Alleged Sex With Minor

A part-time junior varsity softball coach at a high school in Temple City was arrested for allegedly having sex with one of the girls he coached, authorities announced on Tuesday.

Ryan Frontino, 31, who was a “seasonal” employee at Temple City High School since 2011, was arrested in the 11400 block of Hallwood Drive in El Monte (map) on suspicion of having sex with a minor, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

An investigation began on May 19, after the girl’s mother found sexually explicit messages on her daughter’s cell phone and contacted authorities, the release stated.

The messages were allegedly from Frontino, who was the victim’s former softball coach, according to the release.

Frontino had met and coached the victim over the past few years, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Frontino was arrested following the investigation and allegedly confessed to the allegations, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

He was being held on $260,000 bail.
