An investigation was underway on Sunday after a fight at a house party in Carson ended with one man dead and several others injured, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The stabbing victim was discovered shortly before midnight in the area of East 184th Street and Avalon Boulevard (map), according to a news release from the department.
Detectives believe he was stabbed during an altercation at a house party earlier in the evening that took place in the 18600 block of Town Avenue (map), the news release stated.
Following the fight, several men — including the one who had been stabbed — left the party in a vehicle. After driving several blocks, however, they before pulled over and called emergency personnel.
First responders arrived and tried to treat the man, but he died at the scene, according to the release.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Four other people involved in the fight sustained various injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The nature of their injuries was not immediately clear.
Sections of Avalon Boulevard and East 184 Street had to be closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic early Sunday morning as authorities continued their investigation, authorities said.
