The discovery of the device was made in the 7200 block of Richfield (map) around 11:15 p.m., Lt. Eric Lindblom with the Sheriff’s Lakewood Station said.

About 100 residents were subsequently evacuated for several hours while a sheriff’s explosives detail investigated the incident.

Evacuations orders were lifted around 3 a.m. on Tuesday after the scene was cleared, and the displaced residents were allowed to return to their homes, according to Lindblom.

No injuries were reported.

One man has been arrested in connection with the incident, Lindblom said. His identity has not yet been released.

It was not immediately clear what charges he faced.

KTLA’s Justin Burton contributed to this report.
