A part-time teacher at a Placentia high school bailed out of a Santa Ana jail early Thursday morning, a day after she was arrested in connection with sexual abuse allegations made by a former student.
Rebecca Eileen Diebolt, 35, of Brea, was taken into custody Wednesday on suspicion of oral copulation and sexual penetration of a person under age 18, according to the Placentia Police Department.
She posted $100,000 bail and was released at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
She has been working at Valencia High School since 2003 and currently teaches there part time, according to the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.
Her alleged victim contacted police on June 4 and said she had a sexual relationship with Diebolt while she was a student, from 2004 to 2008.
Diebolt was the alleged victim’s Language Arts treater and a swim and water polo coach at the school, according to police.
The victim told police that she got to know the teacher when she was 15 and their relationship developed into a sexual one.
They had sexual encounters in Diebolt’s classroom and home that continued after the alleged victim went on to college, she said.
Detectives were working to determine if there were additional victims.
Anyone with information was asked to call detectives at 714-993-8146.
