Shooting in East L.A. Mexican Seafood Restaurant Leaves 1 Man Dead

Homicide detectives continued to investigate Monday the shooting death of a man in a Mexican seafood restaurant in East Los Angeles.

The shooting occurred Sunday around 8:15 p.m. in the 6000 block of Whittier Boulevard (map), according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department news release.

A Hispanic man was shot after arguing with an unidentified person inside the restaurant. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to the news release.

“The two exchanged words and the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect and several other people who were inside the restaurant entered a dark colored SUV and fled the location,” sheriff’s department Lt. Dave Coleman said.
