A former child psychologist was convicted of inappropriately touching two children during therapy sessions, authorities announced Tuesday.
Thomas Gary Amberson, 58, of Upland pleaded no contest on Monday to two felony counts of lewd acts upon a child, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation into Amberson began in 2010 when one of his patients told his parents that the psychologist touched him inappropriately during therapy sessions, the release stated.
The parents contacted Claremont police who discovered that Amberson also had sexually abused another patient in 2007, the release stated.
Both victims were under the age of 13 when the crimes occurred.
Amberson was expected to be sentenced July 16 to eight years in state prison.
He will also have to register as a sex offender for life.
