Video Released of Man Sought in Deadly Shooting of Aspiring Hollywood Musician

Authorities released surveillance video Thursday in hopes of identifying a man sought in connection with the fatal shooting of an aspiring artist in Hollywood in May.

Jeffrey Dale, 28, was walking home from a performance at Hollywood and Highland when he was gunned down in front of the Las Palmas Hotel at about 2 a.m. on May 30.

Officers heard the gunshots and responded to the hotel in the 1700 block of North Las Palmas Avenue.

When they arrived, Dale was laying unconscious on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Authorities have asked the public for help in identifying the alleged gunman, who was seen in surveillance video two days after the shooting.

Detectives said the man has been spotted in the area of the murder multiples times since the shooting.

HeĀ  was described as a black man about 25 to 30 years old, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

The alleged shooter also has a very distinctive walk that can be clearly seen on the video, said LAPD Detective George Bowens.

He should be considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.

Investigators said that Dale had recently moved to Los Angeles from New Jersey and was performing under the name Haitian Boy.

Authorities have not announced a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
