1 Dead, 1 Injured After Shooting Near Taco Truck in East L.A.

Homicide detectives on Monday were investigating a shooting near a taco truck in East Los Angeles that left one person dead and another injured, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Kern Avenue (map), according to Lt. Parga with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s East L.A. Station.

Initially, the Sheriff’s Department reported that two people had been shot and injured. However, one of the victims later died at the hospital, Parga said.

That person’s identity has not yet been released.

The other victim was expected to survive, according to Parga.

It was not known if the shooting was gang-related, Parga added.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
